(17-05-2017, 09:56 AM)monkeydude Thanks I tried it. I followed the step by step: after i tapped Install in the TWRP screen, it goes alll the way but fails at "updating partition information".

Then it reboots in a looping format, showing the following error messages:

Failed updating partition information

E-String resource 'install_root_chk" not found. using default value

Could not mount /data folder and unable to found crypto folder

could not mount /data (Invalid Arguement)

Unable to recreate media folder

Unable to mount storage

P.S. I have unlocked the bootloader first should that matter.

1. What version of SuperSu did you use?
2. Try doing a full backup in TWRP (don't restore) and let me know how it goes

It went very well, thank you! It was a misstep on my part, not the TWRP you provided or the steps listed. Very terrific!

Hey, thanks! It worked fine for my phone. Rooted now. It was a mistake on myself.

Just curious: i repeated the procedure on an exact copy (build number and all) but it failed. Is it supposed to happen?

Could you explain what you mean by failed?

Hi,

this is the error i am getting when I tried to unroot an exact model/build number:
.jpg
IMG-20170519-WA0002.jpg
Size: 72.53 KB / Downloads: 3

This happens after i install SuperSU from the TWRP window. At last step it fails on "updating partition" then reboots itself non stop with the above screen/messages.

it worked like a charm on my other phone from which recovery and scatter were made from.

Any idea?

In TWRP, check the mount section. Unmount and remount data

BTW, how did you resolve this when you encountered it on your own W3?

Hey, thanks for the big tip. When i went to mount, the data section was unchecked but it failed to be checked as well (like it was disabled). I ended up changing the file system of the data partition to fat then back to ext4 then it was able to be checked. On reboot, it worked. I donno if the conversion to fat was necessary but it did work. When i saw the partition information of the data, it was ext4 but had no size. Thats why i opted to change it (wild risk i think) but it worked.

The first one simply worked by rebooting the phone and starting the Install from scratch.
