Hi everyone,

Hi everyone, my name is Connor. I have recently gotten an Acer Iconia One 10 b3-a20 on android version 5.1, and I have been desperately trying to root it since. I have tried everything I can think of. Kingroot, Kingoroot, iRoot, they all fail every time. I have even tried using the pc version of Kingoroot, which fails as well. When I go into the root checker app, It says that for my device there is a root available, at medium difficulty, but I cannot find a way to root my device. I have access to a mac laptop, and if I need a windows pc, I can use my friends. Please inform me of any way I can successfully root my device.

Thanks.

I believe its a Mediatek device.
What's the exact chip (refer to https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13054.html ), Build Number and do you have the stock rom?

After I install that app like the linked guide told me to under what row do I look? In other words, exactly what am I looking for? Sorry I know almost nothing about android.

for chipset, click on the device tab in droid hardware info app. you should find the chipset there (if unsure then post screenshot of the device tab here)

for build number, goto settings > about phone > build number

Build Number: Acer_AV0L0_B3-A20_8.003.00_WW_GEN1
Chipset: MT8163
I think I have stock rom, because I haven't changed anything like that since I got the tablet...

I actually meant the firmware which you must have downloaded online

I just googled it, so I know what it means now.
Yes, I do have stock rom. Do I need a custom rom to root?

P.S. I posted my build number and chipset above like you asked.
