so bro, after flashing the stock rom into the phone using sp flashtool, and using steps outlined to repair the IMEI number, can I still change that rom to the previous custom rom that caused all this wahala? and how will I go about it?

Yes you can revert to the custom rom but you'll need to take some extra steps
1. Before flashing the custom rom, backup your Secro & NVRAM using TWRP. You can also do a backup of preloader, secro, nvram and nvdata using Miracle Box @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html
2. Flash the custom rom
3. If you encounter Unknown baseband then restore the secro and nvram backups you'd earlier made

Is the custom recovery you're using TWRP?

Then just boot into TWRP and tap the Backup option. Tick only the partitions you wish to backup then swipe
