Hi, is there any way I can backup the userdata image via dd to reduce to file size up to 4GB? When I tried to dump data partition as image the file size is over 20GB. I also tried gzip (dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22 | gzip > /sdcard/data.gz) but the file size is 10GB (still too large). I can't use Nandroid either because I haven't found custom recovery for the device (china tablet). Any replies are very much appreciated, thanks!

Don't think you'll be able to attain that level of compression unless the image is corrupt or you reduce your /data partition's contents.
What's the chipset of the device in question?

Thanks for replying, the device's chipset is MT6735. Is there any method to backup data as userdata.img?

The data partition's contents is just a configuration settings (wifi password, sim card apn, etc) and an app with 5MB size estimated.

So if I get you right, the problem isn't that you're not able to dump userdata via the dd command (like @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-1405.html ) but that its too large. The dump tends to be the max size of that partition . Anyway, what's the device's chipset?

Correct! Userdata supposed to be MB size since I only install one app and configured the settings. And if I dump the userdata the size is too large and that means it error/corrupted. Is that possible to get the userdata partition as image using using Linux terminal? or any method.

My device chipset is MT67** (MT6735, etc).

I don't think its corrupt. Its probably just dumping the full partition (both used and empty space) .
Why not try Miracle Box @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html in scatter format

Miracle Box not working, can't detect my device. I already manually install all required drivers.
