[Help] Failed root, Infinix Hot 4. Logo looping on start up
(23-06-2018, 06:29 PM)MatrixM Hi, sorry if this isn't the place for thisyour phone is currently soft bricked. you'll need to flash stock rom to fix that before you can attempt to root
I attempted a root for my Infinix Hot 4 (Android 6.0) and failed miserably. First I tried Kingo Root but that kept failing. I guessed it had to do with this bootloader thing....so I ended up trying again using a guide from this website called naijnaira (how-to-root-infinix-hot-4-x557-and-port-twrp-recovery-image) [I can't post proper linnks].

(23-06-2018, 09:28 PM)X3nonThank you so much for the reply. I don't know what a Hardware Box or a Dongle is so I assume I don't have them. Unless it's just a USB cable for the phone...?(23-06-2018, 06:29 PM)MatrixM Hi, sorry if this isn't the place for thisyour phone is currently soft bricked. you'll need to flash stock rom to fix that before you can attempt to root

first you need to get the build number of your Hot 4; use method 3 at to determine the build number of your device
lets know the outcome
(24-06-2018, 12:16 PM)MatrixM I downloaded that rom zip file and moved it to my phone and tried to "install zip" via TWRM
I got the following
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
(in red) Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/androud/update-binary' in the zip file.
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/X557-H807AD-M-170524V251.zip' (end red)

That rom isn't a flashable zip. You flash using Sp flash tool @ https:// forum. hovatek.com/ thread-159.html not stock recovery
(25-06-2018, 03:08 PM)MatrixM Ah, I see. But which boxes should I tick? Booting? (I've been hesitant to flash it on because I read somewhere that it formats or deletes data as a side effect, but I guess it's a matter of boxes ticked...?)
EDIT: and to clarify, is just downloading the scatter file from the hovatek forum ("[Hovatek]Infinix X557 Scatter file (H807AD-M-170524V251)[Miracle Box Dump].zip") and extracting from this zip sufficient? Or do I need to download the whole firmware from the link I gave and have those files in the same folder as the scatter file?

only your SD card is really totally safe
you could try flashing ONLY boot, recovery and system.img from the rom you downloaded but if flashing is successful and phone still loops on logo then you'll have to perform a factory reset in recovery mode
downloading only scatter file isn't going to cut it, you'll need the entire stock rom and there's no need of re-downloading again if you've already downloaded a firmware that matches the build number of your device
