(13-07-2018, 09:15 PM)ryfoz To repack it? Or where do I select it?

The root option is on the list. After root, you can then repack

I know it's on the list, I just don't know where to apply it but thanks for clarifying.

one more thing, will it request for SuperSu.zip or Magisk to attach to it or....

and after using the root option and I repack it, will it root my device successfully?

This depends on the Mod you've applied to your system.img or boot.img i.e whether you're manually patching system.img / boot

(16-07-2018, 10:55 AM)hovatek This depends on the Mod you've applied to your system.img or boot.img i.e whether you're manually patching system.img / boot

Hi boss, I used the root option, it then gave me another 2 option of root;
1. system mode (automatic root permissions without supersu apk)
2. classic mode (installs root apk and other necessary files)

I tried option 1 1st, repacked and flashed it and NO ROOT

went back and tried option 2: NO ROOT

I began testing different options like adding su init.d, busybox, etc that is root related and all efforts prove futile.

I then changed from STANDALONE installer method to AROMA since default can't work without using an installer to install root (option 4)

Then I tried the same options of STANDALONE too, I practically did everything I could think of and still NO ROOT!

all these were accompanied with repeated Phone wipe (not factory reset), just deleting data and backing up to pc all important files and folders because this is now my main device.

I was also restoring too after each flash pending the next flashing.

To put it bluntly the procedure is COMPLETELY excruciating and time-wasting; I wasted data, lost files when I was hurrying to do a backup...

Now I have noticed two things;

 1. The root didn't work because the repacking was only creating supersu.zip separate from system.img and putting the flashing script in the META.Inf folder which can't be flashed in a scatter file

2. I can't perform factory reset (wipe) on my device anymore because it keeps getting stuck at setup menu after language option showing "Checking FrpFragment... please wait"
 it NEVER gets past that (I think that's due to missing frp file in the ROM)

So I went to use SP MDT to flash all my stock ROM files in annoyance hoping it can get the job done

flashing was going fine, persist file flashed successfully but the process failed at yl_params file (which is just 1MB) and I can't select partition using SP Multiport Download Tool

I went back to SP FLASH TOOL to flash back normally... excluding the missing files and now I am back to all my stock files (fonts included)

That is the report of my experiment

Now posting replies here can be tedious too...the site takes time to load as well as much data too not to mention error posting this kind of LONG reply after painstakingly typing and I have to type it ALL AGAIN (seriously)...no complaints anyway just pointing out how replying here is not so easily done.

I have attached images of part of the procedure but can't upload all, cos they are too many

The 4th is my phone chipset in shell command yet it didn't work when I tried using WWR TOOL to create it... probably why my other files can't flash

On the other hand I rooted Blackview R6 with MT673T without issues, although I renamed the scatter file to 6737T b4 it worked but my point is it worked, how is mine now so different and difficult?

Anyway I have given up trying to root it... just dropping my feedback.

Thanks for your help

fastboot won't aid you as i explained at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23381.html
unless there is a way of modifying preloader.bin and or lk.bin to unlock bootloader [before you ask how, no clue if thats even possible]

...

this is because OEMs now add tighter security to prevent users from tampering with the OS. at least you didnt need a custom DA to backup and yours can even boot into fastboot [even though it doesn't seem useful].

if you're still up for experimenting, you can deep search for other tools / kitchens you can use to add / insert / inject root or supersu into system.img.
lets know if you find anything interesting
