thanks for this post. I just notice some discrepancy between the video and steps on this post. specially on step 21. in the video, he choose preloader.bin instead of ROM_0, is it just fine? will it produce the same outcome?

yes  its the same outcome. don't forget that preloader.bin was extracted from ROM0 file

It depends on the source of the userdata.img. If it was backed up from the device prior to factory reset then yes.

tried using the latest version of sp flash tool to do a read back on my gionee f205 MT6739, there I got this SP Flash Tool error message after reading 100% red bar: ERROR: status_brom_cmd_send_da_fail (0xC0060003)
what could be the possible reason?

Your phone likely requires a custom DA.

(21-02-2018, 04:15 PM)davek17 Hey nice tool, I will definitely  be trying this.  Does it work or does anyone have any success stories with later MTK chipsets and OS's like MT 6737, mt8537 etc and Nougat?

try it on those chipset types and be the first to give feedback
BTW android version doesn't really matter here, the chipset on the other hand does. [e.g some MTK chipsets are still not supported by latest SPft version .etc]
Media Tek SP Flash Tool works properly with my mobile “Alcatel Pixi 4 (5)” (chipset MT6735M), but it doesn't with my new mobile “Lenovo C2” (chipset MT6735P).

With this last one (MT6735P) he always gives me the error:

- BROM ERROR: S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL (2004)

or

- ERROR: S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTING_FAIL (5054)

Does Media Tek SP Flash Tool support the MT6735P chipset?

yes it does, your phone probably requires a custom DA; check the list at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23383.html

With the custom DA it works perfectly. [Image: smile.gif]

Thanks so much.
