this is correct. if the phone was on slot A before the upgrade then it will be on slot B after the upgrade
and you could use sp flash tool to flash patched_boot
BTW, check your thread @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-27059.html for the fastboot problem

what exactly are you trying to modify?
from the screenshots on the link, everything seems fine. maybe you can point out what or where you're having trouble with

you can disable whatever you dont need by modifying the value in the scatter file
is_download: false
in a regular firmware you'll find online, they'll just assume to flash into A slot, leaving B slot as empty
in your backup, your A and B slots both hold android 8 and android 9 respectively. so it doesn't matter much if your backup shows more partitions than in regular firmware.
