(01-04-2020, 02:36 PM)SKIPP3R Didn't work because no vbmeta partition

Even fastboot said {partition doesn't exist}

Sent from my Infinix X604 using Hovatek Mobile

attach a full screenshot of fastboot cmd prompt window showing the command you sent and the error message

Can't send screenshot because of the size it's larger than the website requirement
How do I fix that

I've successfully minimised it

if vbmeta exists on the phone then it's like to be dual just like most of the other partitions i.e _a/b. also the reason why i said check your scatter file you got after making the firmware backup if vbmeta can be found within

also what's the error on booting twrp?

But there's no vbmeta I've checked
Should I send the scatter file also

And also I had to start all over again from the beginning
I went back to the Oreo and updated to Android 9 and then Android 10
Now the active slot is _a
I don't know how it was _b before

also what's the error on booting twrp?

There's no error for the TWRP. it just boot to home screen

you can attach it just incase but i don't think it's necessary since you've confirmed

for each time you perform an update, the active slot is switched
the last time, you updated android 9 twice, so that's from slot a to b to a to b

do you have stock boot.img for the android 9? if yes, try porting twrp using the tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html
then try fastbooting the ported twrp recovery
also try a different approach i.e try fastbooting the magisk_patched boot.img from android 10
post the outcome of both

I already have TWRP that works for the Android 9 and root that works also

As for the Android 10 I've tried the magisk method it was successful but boot up to home screen but no root

Did you use the patched boot.img from android 9? if yes then you need to use boot.img from android 10 firmware.
use latest version of magisk manager to patch.
Also, do you have a working twrp that works on android 10?

i've just noticed that vbmeta is somehow included within boot.img, probably the reason why everything custom fails since dm_verity is still active

try the command below using both your stock boot and magisk patched boot, let me know the outcome
Code:

fastboot –disable-verity flash boot boot.img
or
fastboot –disable-verity –disable-verification flash boot boot.img
