(28-09-2020, 11:42 AM)X3non(26-09-2020, 02:33 PM)Alpamayo Thank you hovatek. As per your suggestion I tried Magisk Canary version 8b29267a (20426) but nothing changed
In your opinion is there any other way to root this phone? (besides Magisk)?
Thanks
lets verify if
first flash empty vbmeta and magisk patched boot just like you did before
then use the scatter file for your device to readback boot and vbmeta partition ; see https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-526.html for how to readback
if successful, zip and upload both boot and vbmeta from the readback
while at it, also try porting twrp using the tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html
(26-09-2020, 02:33 PM)Alpamayo PS Regarding my request for a "special" DA file. I'm asking because my device uses a SECURE BOOT, and in your video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj4iFakq33M at minute 5.26 you said: "in spflastools ensure to load YOUR DA file if you're using a SECURE BOOT device ... but I'm not using a secure boot device so I'll be using the Default Download Agent in spflashtools".
That's why I thought a special DA file was necessary for my device with secure boot!!
from one of your replies, you mentioned that you were able to flash vbmeta using spft. it's presumed that you used the default DA in spft
if that is correct then the device doesn't have secure boot and as such doesn't require a custom da
(29-09-2020, 03:23 PM)Alpamayo Ok X3non, I've done exactly what you asked. Here is the zipped file containing the readback from my device of empty vbmeta and magisk patched boot.
https://mega.nz/file/5MYCSD4K#corOeVKseq...Y8xinZ4Yto
I also need to point out that I DID try porting TWRP with your version 1.7, but the device doesn't boot into recovery and reboots to system.
Thank you
Mike.
PS I just added as attachment the original Oukitel scatter file.
(30-09-2020, 02:19 PM)X3nonThank you X3non. That's what I've been suspecting in the past few days. I'll have to wait for the next Magisk release and hope it addresses this problem (unless you might want to recommend a different root tool). Of course I have also JUST tried the custom recovery made with tool v.1.7a .... but the outcome was the usual: it hangs at the boot logo and after a while reboots into fastboot mode.(29-09-2020, 03:23 PM)Alpamayo Ok X3non, I've done exactly what you asked. your boot is really magisk patched, it seems this version of magisk somehow doesn't work for your device
when trying out the twrp, hope you still had empty vbmeta running on the phone
if yes, you can try v1.7a @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html

(05-10-2020, 01:51 PM)Alpamayo Done already. The new build doesn't work either.

Guess its down to hoping a future magisk release supports your device type
(07-10-2020, 11:11 AM)Alpamayo Yes. I joined an opened ticket at github where other people where experiencing the same issue. The thread was flagged with BUG. So I guess they are acknowledging the issue. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
