[Please help] Getting TWRP to work on a cheap generic mtk6580 phone
(30-10-2020, 04:12 PM)Freescoot Hello, i used hovatek twrp auto porter 1.4 to port twrp. It succeded but the twrp doesnt work It blackscreens and restarts. I have disabled dm_vefify, formated storage but nothing works. Also the ported twrp is very small only 9,6mb in size compared to 16mb stock recovery.
Is there any way to get it working? Thanks

what is the android version of this device?
and how did you disable dm_verity?
(01-11-2020, 11:43 AM)Freescoot Android version is 8.1 go. I disabled dm_verify via magisk by checking that dm_verify option and flashing modified boot.img via spflashtool

and did you try twrp from the other oreo options in the tool? see the important notice section @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html
(02-11-2020, 11:17 PM)Freescoot Yes, i tried everything blackscreens and reboot. Also a 9,6mb is very small for twrp

if i understand you correctly, you tried twrp from 8.0 , 8.1 and 8.1G and in all cases, the phone was running magisk patched boot; is this correct?
if yes, what's the kernel version of the phone?
file size has nothing to do with the recovery not working, BTW you should know that 16mb is the partition size (it's not the full size of the contents of stock recovery, stock recovery will probably be 10mb or less)
