(30-01-2021, 12:40 PM)X3non that's recovery-from-boot.p within /system at play
Which is restored when custom recovery doesn't play out well with the ROM. Would love to spend some of my time to learn about it all. Had ideas of building custom ROM before, and some way to make custom programs work like Java -- "build once, run everywhere"... something like Project Treble
(30-01-2021, 12:40 PM)X3non fingers crossed, though you might want to reinstall apps and test the rom as you would a normal day's usage
Been thinking about it, actually. I'm thinking how it'll all affect "/data" -- backup & restore.
Would it be a bad idea to re-flash original 'system.img' if version I recently reflashed solves battery problem?
My idea is to use the TWRP I ported here, and make a Nandroid backup of '/data' if battery problem is solved -- so I could reflash it in case '/data' gets wiped (very likely) after I flash back the original 'system.img', supposing it's a good idea to do that.

reflashing the original system means you'll return back to the bugged battery rom, ofc you are free to choose whichever rom you wish to

if the device requires a factory reset after flashing the original system, then it means that if you restore /data made while running the new system onto the original system, the phone will require a factory reset to boot
the /data backup will only be useful if you plan to return back to the new system

Things went haywire when I tried to install a TWRP -- what worked for original system.img did not work for what I just installed, and whe I ported using tool ver. 1.4, phone got into a bootloop; couldn't reflash the image at the time and my option was to reinstall original system image. Flashing boot.img & recovery.img didn't fix the issue, and now I'm back on original system image.

This "data encryption" thingy is somewhat messy. If not for it, I'd re-flash the system.img you gave me link to, so I can ascertain for a fact whether it solves the battery issue or not. It's so messed up...

Only 1.4 and I got a bootloop. Tried holding power + volume up keys while phone was off, but I couldn't boot into recovery mode. I only got "(SERIAL_NO) unauthorized" from "adb devices"

I'm considering it. But could the trouble be an issue of wanting to use a custom recovery to flash Magisj, in stead of flashing a Magisk-oatched boot image?

idk why you need twrp, unless patching boot doesn't work or you want to install a custom rom or zip
