(13-06-2016, 09:59 AM)Aerieana My phone is not rooted, getting it rooted is what I'm trying to do, as I said in the first post. I didn't read anywhere that having a rooted device was a requirement to use MTK Droid Tool either.

Also, I have no choice but to use version 2.5.3d, because my SoC (MT6735) is not supported in previous versions, though it seems the only support for MT67xx SoCs is that they are detected by it, nothing else.

To quote from another forum about the release of 2.5.3d

"There is a patch to recognize phones with cpu MT67xx family from MTKDroid, but no operations are possible (patch/backup/ecc)."
"Version 2.5.3d (beta) it’s the 2.5.3 version with some changes: MTKDroidTools.ini modified to support new cpu MTK6732/MT6752"

As my device is not rooted, there's no point in me downloading adbd, because it requires root, which I don't have.
The decision is yours but believe me, it is risk free to give it a try. My phone is MT6572; mtk v2.5.3 recognises it but making a stock backup is out of the functionality of that version as long as my phone is concern untill i tried the version I gave you and it did the work flawlessly. If you really want to get the work done, you don't just look at 1 possibility that someone has confirmed. Maybe that won't work for you. You look at diverse possibilities, most especially those disputed by others. Just a word of advice.

Nope, I'm hesitant to as some people have bricked their LG K8 (my phone model) by using one-click root apps. Plus I don't really trust all those apps like kingroot, kingoroot, iroot, root genius etc. why do you think people replace them with other superuser apps afterwards?

True, it's risk free, I can try it out then. However, MT6572 is an older chip than mine, and also 32-bit whilst mine is 64-bit. I'll report back with how using v2.5.3 goes anyway.

People replace it with supersu because supersu has more deep root permission than kingroot thats all not because kingroot is faultt or something

(12-06-2016, 11:22 PM)Aerieana So, I'm trying to create a full backup of my phone before I start fiddling with it (installing a custom recovery and rooting)

I have tried MTK Droid Tool, but I can't create a scatter file and my SoC seems to only be half supported by the latest version (2.5.3d).

I have tried using SP Flash Tool with a MT6735 scatter file taken from this forum to try and use Readback, but there is no size that I can enter because MTK Droid Tool won't give me any block info.

I have also tried using Miracle Box, but my phone keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, plus it boots up if I press the power button just once, or after I reinsert the battery.

I've followed the guides here yet keep hitting dead ends Sad

My phone model is the LG K8 (K350N) and it's running Android 6.0

Please help

Your best bet is Miracle box @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html
Do not press the power button or remove the battery

I had tried that just now. I press start, then plug in my phone whilst it's off with the battery still inside. After a couple seconds the screen comes on with a battery logo, turning into a charging logo showing my battery percentage, then after that my phone vibrates once and starts to boot by itself, and without me touching it at all. I selected MTK > Read > 8th Boot (MT65xx & MT67xx/8127)

Miracle Box says waiting for USB port until my phone starts to boot, then says ">>none usbport, maybe driver not installed". I do have drivers installed though.

I've tried v2.5.3 just now also, it did exactly the same as v2.5.3d, detects it, gives the same errors as in my attached image a few posts ago, and clicking Blocks Map also shows the same as before.
