[Please help] Cannot get custom recovery on rooted MT6572
(27-08-2016, 10:23 AM)mahtin ...
Tried both methods without success.
Would be grateful for any assistance, and sorry for posting this already in development.
Thank you.
(13-09-2016, 07:27 AM)mahtin Thank you for the response.
Just tried again.
With the first the error was region overlap, and with the second a message informing that my MT6572 was not compatible, it was for MTK phones only.
BTW I don't see an attachment to download TWRP for Lava Iris 505, which I would dearly like to obtain.

the TWRP image was relocated to https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4S-Z72...sp=sharing
you can flash using rashr.apk since you've already rooted

Thank you. Tried SP Flashtools using the scatter file you provided and only recovery checked, using the recovery.img you provided.
This downloaded OK, resulting in the big tick in the green circle, but could not boot into recovery.
Then tried the rashr app, which gave a warning about partition too small. I took the option to ignore the size check and it said it flashed, then tried to boot into recovery but only achieved a normal boot. There is a momentary glimpse of the AIS logo, then about 30 seconds of nothing, then the normal boot sequence. Tried again holding volume down, and multiple pressing volume down, but no TWRP.
Also tried flashing aromafm.zip, which I found in phone storage>TWRP>aromafm. Still unable to boot into recovery.

(25-09-2016, 01:12 AM)mahtin Something just occurred to me: there are 2 models of the Lava Iris 505 - an Indian version that came out in 2013 and a Thai version released at the beginning of 2016, and they have different specs. Mine is the Thai version; could it be that the TWRP image you provided was intended for the Indian version? Don't know if that would explain the problem, but it might be worth considering.
Thank you.
