what error did you get when you tried reading back the length 0x400000000 ? (attach full screenshot)
you can also try 0x200000000

Thanks for your help. Sorry for taking so long to respond.

When I tried 0x400000000, It didn't even start to readback here is the screenshot.

When I tried 0x200000000 It started to readback but got stuck after about 128 MB. Here is the screenshot.

I also tried to readback 128MB (0x8000000) and 256MB (0x10000000). This  I was able to readback but WwR MTK Toll still doesn't find anything in it.

try installing this driver at [ Login / Register to download free] then retry the full readback
whats the phone model? and is the phone rooted?

I get a message that wasn't able to find any driver for my system. I'm on a windows 7 64 bit computer

My model is RCT6873W42BMF8 running MT8167D
The tablet isn't rooted. (The reason I'm trying to get the ROM is to be able to root the device.

Code:
41 4E 44 52 4F 49 44

try this
download Hxd editor @ http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/3000-2352_4-10891068.html&anchor=HxD
launch hxd and open the 256MB readback you made earlier on (you can drag the file onto hxd window)
press control + f to search

search for: the value in the code above
datatype: hex_values
search direction: all

lets know if hxd editors finds anything and how many times the value is found

It found it once at 0xB400000 at offset 00

this might be good, can you compress this file to 7z and upload?
meanwhile, is there an option to boot to fastboot from recovery mode on the phone?

here's preloader.bin from the dump @ https://www.datafilehost.com/d/45f3e69a
you can try ram testing but don't flash this (cant say what the outcome will be)

What do you mean by not flashing why would I want to flash this or when would I want to flash it.

How do I continue now with getting the ROM?

I tried doing a ram test but I only get the option for DRAM Flip Test. The guide at
https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-22701.html
seems to only be for EMMC devices.

Thank You,

Thank You,

some people might get a funny idea to try flashing preloader to see if it works -- that's what i tried to prevent by mentioning not to flash

anyway i can't seem to get a valid boot.img or recovery.img from within this 256mb file. try reading 0x100000000 (page only)
see if that works without spft throwing out an error.

also try this
in SPft, press (ctrl + alt + v) to enable advanced mode
click Options > option > download >
untick / tick the checkbox beside 'Physical format / readback' (if its ticked then untick it but if its unticked then tick it)
then perform another readback. the same 0x100000000 (page only)
