My Infinix hot6 has refused to power on after a system update. What do I do to get it back on?

are you saying the phone is totally dead or stuck at boot?
if totally dead then how exactly did the problem happen?

You're right Stella. It's a fault in the update. A full flash with the correct firmware for your build number from here https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23659.html should get it back to normal.

However, I would like to know if there are other means to get the phone to come back on without necessarily flashing it?

you might still need to flash stock firmare, but first disconnect / reconnect the battery then connect and allow the phone to charge for several hours then see if it's able to power on
