[Development] How to root the Gionee M6
[Development] How to root the Gionee M6
(23-03-2017, 05:15 PM)NicklasE I sent a PM with my Google name. But never mind that. After some additional testing and following the procedure carefully to install the SuperSU again, the phone finally booted after a few attempts. I have not yet verified what is working and what is not. But the device has booted, I'm able to get a root shell and the SuperSU app seems "happy".
I must have missed some critical step at my first attempt. So if anyone else is encountering the same problem: try to redo the installation and be very very careful!

I'm attaching screenshots of SuperSU and also settings. For the version number you should look at "System version".

(21-03-2017, 04:01 PM)NicklasEI got this problem and solved it by relocking the bootloader. I must warn you it takes forever and a day on the first boot. I don't know how long since I went away and when I came back the phone had rebooted.(21-03-2017, 03:40 PM)freshtyt(21-03-2017, 10:45 AM)NicklasE Hi.I got this problem and solved it by relocking the bootloader. My device is stuck in the boot "Orange State...Your device will boot in 5 seconds". But it doesn't reboot. It just hangs there. Is there a key combination or something to get the device to boot the recovery image in order to get the device working again?

can the device still boot to the homescreen?
try holding the power button till the device reboots. then you can attempt following the guide again.
No, the device cannot boot to the homescreen. It will always get stuck on that initial boot screen where is says it will reboot in 5 seconds (but never does anything). The M6 is really unusable at the moment.
