My tecno y2 battery gets drained excessively when it's in the idle mode (when the screen is off). And when i'm using it the battery is drained normally. I don't know if this is a hardware problem or software problem.

How did the problem start?
Try factory reset.

You probably have an app that's active only when your phone is in idle mode

I just did a test... I placed d phone on airplane mode and it worked fine. Turned off d airplane mode and it resumes it excessive draining and I don't even have my data on. And the draining happens only when the phone is in the idle mode. Not when d screen is on.

Have you done the factory reset?
Its probably some app that uses signal (wifi, bluetooth, data,3G,4G etc)
Have you done the factory reset? This will tell us if its a system level app or not
Also, check your battery stats, that should help identify battery intensive processes / apps
