Hello,

I have a non-rooted tecno m7 which got bootloop bricked earlier this week after some issues updating some of the apps on google play. i have alot of important data on the phone that unfortunately hasn't been backed-up; so i would really appreciate a restoration method that wouldn't affect the existing data. Please kindly assist me in restoring my phone back to normal. Thank you for replies in advance.

this is quite a twisted one. normally, wiping userdata should get the phone working again but thats out of the picture. ok. the top priority is to secure data.img or usrdata.
backing up in recovery mode is useless. since the phone is not rooted, your best backup option is using sp flash tool readback @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-526.html . see the video at the guide to fully understand it

For the MTK drivers, https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-317.html , given that I don't have a working phone, are there other alternatives to getting the required drivers ?

prior to connecting the phone to the pc and launching mtk-droid-tools, should the phone be put into factory/recovery mode ?
I ask this because when i powered the phone - it being stuck bootlooping at the logo screen - and connected it to the pc, it was not recognized by mtk-droid-tools

i tried connecting the phone while in factory/recovery mode, mtk-droid-tools still did not recognize it. Perhaps this ROM backup method, https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-526.html , is feasible only for non-bricked devices. ?

thats because drivers arent installed.can you get access to a working Tecno M7, or any Tecno phone ?

ok. will have to get you the map values. first, download m7 scatter file @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-88.html
then boot into recovery mode and do a backup (just in case it comes in handy)
let me know when done
