Hi, I have purchased a Lenovo TB-X606X tablet that is running Android 10. I would like to downgrade this to Android 9 as I have an application that'll not work on the newer version.
I have spent a lot of time googling this but I am still confused as there are many different views. I have the genuine Android 9 ROM files for this model and also the Android 10 version. So far I have used SP Flash Tool and sent the Android 9 files to the device but once the green tick box appeared, the unit would not boot or go into recovery mode, it was dead. I then reflashed with the Android 10 files and it worked again.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong please.

this android 9 firmware, how did you confirm that it's meant to work on tb-606x?
use method 7 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16005.html ; get the details of the rom from prop.default

Hi, many thanks for your reply.
On my device, I looked at the build number which is TB-X606X_S3001143_210110_BMP and then I downloaded the Android images from: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/len.../TB-X606X/
There are 3 releases of firmwares for this device at that location, one is the version on my device and then two earlier ones. I have tried both of the earlier versions and I see the same issue, dead unit, but if i reflash the version TB-606X_S3001143_210110_BMP, then the tablet comes back to life.
As per your instruction, I went to the link and I then used method 1, recovery mode, and it displays:
TB-X606X_EEA/X606X
10/QPIA.190711.020/TB-X606X_USR_S300114_2101100011_V9.56_BMP_ROW

I did try the adb pull /system/build.prop command from method 2 but I got an error message:
adb: error: failed to copy '/system/build.prop' to '.\build.prop': remote open failed: Permission denied

I had activated Developer mode, allowed USB debugging and turned on the OEM Unlocking feature but I still saw the same error.

what happens when you flash the other two firmwares excluding their preloader? i.e tick and flash all except preloader

the instruction was meant to compare the build properties from the firmware not from your device
use method 7 on all 3 firmwares to get the prop.default and compare them

Hi, appologies for not reading your message correctly. I have now used method 7 and they match:

ro.build.display.id=TB-X606X_S300007_200923_BMP from Firmware Version: TB-X606X_S300007_200923_BMP
ro.build.display.id=TB-X606X_S100253_200903_BMP from Firmware Version: TB-X606X_S100253_200903_BMP
ro.build.display.id=TB-X606X_S100109_200412_BMP from Firmware Version: TB-X606X_S100109_200412_BMP

I tried reloading both of the earlier firmwares again, with the preloader unticked, and both times the unit was dead - nothing on the screen, no vibration on power up and wouldn't go into recovery. As soon as i reload version TB-X606X_S300007_200923_BMP, the unit works fine again.

Many thanks for looking at this for me, any other help would be appreciated.

just to be sure, after flashing either of the other two firmware, did you try disconnecting / reconnecting the battery of the device and the device still remained dead? because flashing without incl. preloader shouldn't return a dead device

Hi, The tablet is a sealed device i.e. the screen is glued to the case, so unfortunately I cannot disconnect the battery. As soon as I reflash with the original firmware version TB-X606X_S300007_200923_BMP, the unit works straight away.

safe to say your device model might have different variant, with incompatible files
