It's a combination of seeing this article from Hovatek, along with other videos/tutorials for how to "hack" embedded devices through RxTx and UART that lead me to believe that I might be able to get a UART connection to this phone, if I solder wire to the right motherboard flats. I actually have a BLU R1HD that is an MTK6735 phone, and on that one I can see the Rx and Tx labeled on the motherboard by the camera (I can't find VCC and GND though). The Tmobile Revvl has absolutely no labels for any soldering points from what I can see, so unless I have a tool to detect them I guess I have to do trial and error.
