Quick guide showing how to rename files & extensions in windows OS. I'm using recovery.img to recovery.bin as examples

Method 1

  • Open control panel >
  • file explorer option >
  • View tab >
  • untick the checkbox beside "hide extensions for known file types" >
  • OK
  • File extensions will become visible after the steps above you can then rename the file e.g from recovery.img to recovery.bin

Method 2

  • Open the folder containing the file you want to rename >
  • hold shift key and right click on any empty space in the folder then select open command prompt or powershell window
  • type the command below and hit enter (replace recovery.img with the filename you intend to change
& replace recovery.bin with the new filename)
    Code:

    ren recovery.img recovery.bin
