[Please help] Gionee s10 lite fingerprint not working

It just vibrate that something is placed on the sensor and it won't unlock. It doesn't even show wrong finger print It would just vibrate and take me to where I'll use pattern to unlock
I tried checking for update, it giving error and I never installed anything that made it stop working. It has been since I started using the phone
is this phone rooted? and have you tried factory resetting?
when you bought the phone, did you confirm that the fingerprint actually works or you've only just noticed it?
