[Please help] Scatter loading error 8417

(This post was last modified: 01-12-2015, 10:45 PM by hovatek. )

I'm currently using Media Tek SP Flash Tool v5.1452.0(latest one I've found), and tried loading a stock ROM for my Lenovo S960 Vibe X from http://www.needrom.com/download/lenovo-s960-vibeui-2-0/

I kept getting Error 8417 Load scatter file is invalid.

I tried using an older version of SP Flash v5.1352.01, and for this one I got "Error: Initialize scatter file failed. Please check the scatter file name you load is legal"

I then tried downloading a different ROM file, and still I get the same error. Please advice what I am doing wrong here.

I did not change the scatter file name.

have you tried version 3?

Update: You need to remove some lines in the scatter file. refer to https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-439.html

there's obviously something wrong with your scatter file . lets see a screenshot showing all your backup files in the folder . take multiple shots so all files are captured

the problem just might be the sp flash tool itself. might need to consider downloading from another source

(8417) SP FLASH TOOL ERROR: The load scatter file is invalid!

Solution: to solve the problem: Opens scatter file in Notepad and look at the first line, it must begining:

############################################################################################################## General Setting #

If the beginning there is something more - remove that!
