You must have the DB files either extracted from your phone or from the full firmware which i guess you don't.

Write IMEI using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-116.html
Root using Magisk @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html

You'll have to root to extract the db files or download from stock ROM.

(30-01-2016, 04:39 PM)hovatek The DB file (BPLGU or MDDB) is required for tools like SN writer and Maui Meta to write IMEI, WiFi / Bluetooth address etc to a Mediatek Android device. You'll usually find the DB files in the official firmware. Should you not find the file(s) in the firmware you downloaded, you can easily extract from your device.

Steps to extract BPLGU / MDDB from a Mediatek device

To extract the DB files(s) from a Mediatek Android phone:

  1. Root the phone (you could use Magisk )
  2. Install a root browser like ES Explorer or ROM Toolbox Lite
  3. Navigate to  /system/etc/mddb/
  4. Copy BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP****  from /system/etc/mddb/ to your device's storage and then to your PC

Important Notice
  • Should you flash a different firmware after extracting the DB  file then you best re-extract the DB when next you wish to use it an a tool else you could run into 'DB inconsistent' error codes
  • You best extract the DB file only from the phone you wish to work on. Using another device's DB files could give errors in the IMEI write tools

Navigating the folder as instructed on my Camon CX air with Root Lite app, what am seeing is this, pls check the attached screenshot and tell me the file to copy.

Is it possible to pull the entire etc directory to gain that file via adb pull command?

I have mt6755.
ROM is a Generic Android signed system, and yes it is rooted. But the problem is there's no option anywhere in the settings to grant root access to the Root Explorer app. So i'm wondering maybe I can pull the directory via adb.

The exact rom is: SW_K96092AA1_V016_HW_96092_1_13_M1621_USR_signed

unless you chmod 755 the folder (which requires root), you can't pull it, options you have
* get proper root access, e.g root using magisk then copy the file using root file manager
* backup firmware (or only system) then extract system.img and get the file. you can extract using imgextractor tool
* boot into a custom recovery e.g twrp then use it's file manager to copy the file(s)
