[Please help] Changing IMEI

Hello all,

I use a Lenovo a1000 smartphone. I have been trying to resolve an IMEI null problem on the phone for the past 2 days all to no avail. I have tried some approaches I read on this forum but it seems they only apply to older versions of my phone's chipset. The phone uses a spreadtrum sc7731 chipset. I have tried using the IMEI write tool via pc but, on all the pcs I've used, none of them detected the phone on their com ports. I also tried the *#*#83781#*#* approach, but didn't get the "set IMEI" option on the menu.
I have carried out several research regarding the said topic but couldn't find a useful solution.

Please I really need to get this done.
