(15-06-2016, 12:08 PM)Aerieana I already know that .kdz isn't for SPFlashTool, it's for LG's own official tool for backup and restore. I can't get or make a scatter file as I've said before, since the tools to retrieve or make one don't want to work with the SoC my phone has.

My phone is not an LG clone either, I bought it directly from the O2 UK network.

Can your phone boot into download mode? https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-12199.html...
If yes then dont extract the kdz file leave it as it is and you can flash it to your phone using LG flashtool

Tested it just now, nothing comes up showing download mode. If I leave the battery in, it eventually does a normal boot by itself, and if I take the battery out and then try, it just keeps connecting and disconnecting from the PC over and over.

The .kdz file I found is the same version as what my phone is currently running (V10b), so flashing it would only be of use if I manage to screw things up while trying other things to root my phone.

(14-06-2016, 10:09 PM)major.b2b100 Secondly Why don't you consider USBdeveiw to uninstall and then reinstall your MTK drivers.

Should I uninstall all drivers under the LG vendor ID? my phone is the only LG device I have. I've attached a screenshot of what my USBDeview shows, and with all LG drivers highlighted.

I don't see the need to unisnstall drivers since drivers are not at fault at this stage.
Try kingroot v4.6.5 because am sure it will root your phone.

(15-06-2016, 10:29 AM)mensa I just realised my phone is of the same CPU as yours. It's MT6753, 64-bit Abate cos it will never backup the stock rom; not even the imei.
I have been trying the miracle box as well but going through the something as you. Even connecting tecno p5 with CPU MT6572 to it is not detected. I wonder if the fault is with miracle box or something.

About backup, I have been able to root my phone using kingroot v4.6.5! This one did the work when any other root tool have failed. You can try that to root your phone.
MT6753 ? your phone is an octa-core then? mine is the quad-core MT6735.

I think I'm giving up on MTKDT/Miracle Box/SPFT, they don't work with my SoC Sad so I'm gonna try a rooting app next. You really recommend Kingroot v4.6.5 for my MT6735 chip then? there's so many chinese rooting apps out there, I've no clue which is best.

Miracle box doesn't work not on your phone alone. I have tried with my tecno p5 and infinix note 2 but none was detected. Try the kingroot v4.6.5 and it will surely get the work done. You can choose to install SuperSU after the root so to avert the chinese language.

What Android version is your phone running? I have 6.0 Marshmallow, I dunno if that'd affect being able to root or not, for how up-to-date a rooting app is.

(14-06-2016, 07:42 PM)Aerieana I had tried that just now. I press start, then plug in my phone whilst it's off with the battery still inside. After a couple seconds the screen comes on with a battery logo, turning into a charging logo showing my battery percentage, then after that my phone vibrates once and starts to boot by itself, and without me touching it at all. I selected MTK > Read > 8th Boot (MT65xx & MT67xx/8127)

Miracle Box says waiting for USB port until my phone starts to boot, then says ">>none usbport, maybe driver not installed". I do have drivers installed though.

means you haven't installed VCOM drivers as instructed by the guide

(14-06-2016, 11:52 PM)Aerieana -----
A slightly different subject; I have a .kdz file for my phone model, taken from LG's servers, and I used a program to extract it. The resulting files are .bin though, not .img like I was expecting. Can .bin files still be used somehow to create/port a custom recovery?

create a new thread for this to avoid a mixup

Nope, I did install them.

And my first post was about trying to make a full backup, in preparation for rooting my phone incase anything went terribly wrong while attempting to root, so it's still the same end goal anyway. It's still related to my particular phone model and chipset, I don't see the harm in continuing in this thread.
