In previous guides on the Infinix Hot 2 X510, I explained how to upgrade from Android Lollipop (5) to Marshmallow (6) using the OTA method (https://www.hovatek.com/blog/how-to-upgr...rshmallow/) and the more convenient SP Flash tool method (https://www.hovatek.com/blog/how-to-upgr...lash-tool/). Today’s guide will focus on rooting.

How do I root the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?

[Image: Hovatek-How-to-make-TWRP-recovery-perman...hone-1.jpg]

[Image: how-to-root-infinix-hot-2-marshmallow-576x1024.png]

How do I unroot the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?

[Image: how-to-unroot-infinix-hot-2-marshmallow-576x1024.png]

Will I lose any data (like contacts) during the above rooting and unrooting procedures?

No you wont. The above techniques deal with only the recovery and system partitions, not the data partition. Only things placed or installed in /system will be removed. If you would like to backup (contacts, SMS, calendar etc) anyway then simply follow the guide at https://www.hovatek.com/blog/backup-your...er-backup/ .

Good evening sir! Sorry to bother you again. I followed the guide avidly but still unable to unroot. This is my observation: I checked link2sd and I saw that SuperSU was installed in /data/app/. Was it suppose to be in /system/ so that flashing system.img will get rid of it? If yes, can I just uninstall it and reflash recovery.img and system.img because i don’t want to wipe /data/? Forgive my ignorance please!!
REPLY
Hovatek says:
March 21, 2016 at 10:11
To unroot, you flash recovery, boot and system, it’s just an app data so ignore it. You don’t have to wipe data. You best backup your data first though.

Thank you sir! I had already figured that out. I remembered that while flashing SuperSU with TWRP I saw something like …”patching boot.img”. So flashing boot.img resolve the impasse. I’m now on the Feb. build. Still considering flashing Marshmallow 0202 (Testing) build. Thank you once again for your help.

good morning sir, thanks for your info
can I use terminal emulator to boot into recovery instead of looking for a PC every time
REPLY
Hovatek says:
May 8, 2016 at 9:36
With the above approach, you only need a PC once to flash the modified lk and preloader, after which you’ll be using button combos on the phone to boot into recovery mode.
Anyway, you could use terminal emulator but try https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-11338.html first

baines says:

I thought after flashing the unmodified prelader.bin nd lk.bin, the button combos won’t work

Hovatek says:

Don’t flash back the unmodified version then.
We only suggested it for those who want pure stock.

Fahd ADNI says:
May 22, 2016 at 4:16
no i never flashed it.
Hovatek says:
May 22, 2016 at 5:21
So we’re not certain it works. Try flashing only recovery.img from your firmware. Let me know how it goes.
We’re looking to port one for you but will need a confirmed working recovery for your phone
Fahd ADNI says:
May 22, 2016 at 9:27
I tried the modified preloader and lk and i tried to boot into my own recovery(original one that come with android) didn’t work the phone won’t go into recovery or boot.
Hovatek says:
May 23, 2016 at 6:20
Is your phone totally dead or stuck at logo?
Fahd ADNI says:
May 22, 2016 at 9:43
i flashed it with the OTA you provided and i did some research and i found that android 6 has a file called recover-from-boot.p that rebuild recovery from boot.So if we flashed boot.img that contain source code of twrp it will build it but we don’t have the kernel source of infinix hot 2 so we can’t.
And you already have the firmware it’s yours that i flashed and if you modified it maybe it will work.
Hovatek says:
May 23, 2016 at 6:21
I don’t quite understand you
Fahd ADNI says:
May 22, 2016 at 9:57
I flashed the modified preloader and lk and the recovery included in the ota provided by you and the recovery successfully flashed but the phone won’t boot into it and won’t turn on.
Hovatek says:
May 23, 2016 at 6:22
So the phone is stuck at boot animation?
Fahd ADNI says:
May 23, 2016 at 12:55
Now the problem is with preloader and lk.
Hovatek says:
May 23, 2016 at 6:22
Is your phone totally dead?
Fahd ADNI says:
May 23, 2016 at 9:32
My phone is dead only when i flash the modified preloader and lk, when i flash those two file the phone won’t turn on at all. but when i reflash my phone with the original files included in the ROM dump provided by you the phone turn on.
Hovatek says:
May 23, 2016 at 9:39
Ok, flash only recovery.img
Fahd ADNI says:
May 23, 2016 at 9:49
I only flashed the TWRP recovery but android 6 has recovery-from-boot.p that rebuild the recovery from boot,so the twrp won’t be there. and i wanted to root my phone.
Hovatek says:
May 24, 2016 at 10:11
True. We will look into this.
Hovatek says:
May 24, 2016 at 6:37
I believe you have gotten it to work by flashing the modified lk and the unmodified preloader

(30-09-2016, 11:32 AM)hovatek In previous guides on the Infinix Hot 2 X510, I explained how to upgrade from Android Lollipop (5) to Marshmallow (6) using the OTA method (https://www.hovatek.com/blog/how-to-upgr...rshmallow/) and the more convenient SP Flash tool method (https://www.hovatek.com/blog/how-to-upgr...lash-tool/). Today’s guide will focus on rooting.

How do I root the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?
[Image: Hovatek-How-to-make-TWRP-recovery-perman...hone-1.jpg]
[Image: how-to-root-infinix-hot-2-marshmallow-576x1024.png]

How do I unroot the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running on Marshmallow?
[Image: how-to-unroot-infinix-hot-2-marshmallow-576x1024.png]

Will I lose any data (like contacts) during the above rooting and unrooting procedures?

No you wont. The above techniques deal with only the recovery and system partitions, not the data partition. Only things placed or installed in /system will be removed. If you would like to backup (contacts, SMS, calendar etc) anyway then simply follow the guide at https://www.hovatek.com/blog/backup-your...er-backup/ .
bro, i've tried this method and i've got the DRAM 4032 error, how to fix it? btw i'm using the latest update Infinix Hot 2 indonesia
