Phone is "Tokio Phablet".

Specs:
MT6580
Android 5.1
5 inch 960 x 540 px
1GB DDR 8GB Flash
2 MP front / 5 mp back camera
Dual SIM

alps.l1.mp6.v2_bird6580.weg.al

moly.wr8.w1449.md.wg.mp.v6.p2

--------------------------------------------------

How do I root this ROM? I've tried kingoroot, framaroot, iroot, etc... Nothing works all failed!

Now I think I need a custom recovery and then flash supersu to root. Is there a similar phone to this which I can flash the recovery?

Does anyone know how to find the original manufacturer of this phone based on specs? Maybe I can flash firmware/recovery from a similar phone with the same hardware?

Also, how do you remove pin code lock without USB debugging enabled and no root/custom recovery? I want to backup some files. Does miracle box support this? I downloaded it but my antivirus detected a trojan in the loader so I'm scared to use it.

Before you do anything, backup the phone using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html
Set your Antivirus to Ignore the Miracle loader

Thank you for your reply.

I will try to do now but I'm having issues with the mediatek vcom port auto disconnecting.

On step 7 I do as instructed and the phone automatically turns on with the battery icon (charging) after it is plugged in and MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android) appears in device manager then disconnects after 3 seconds. How do I stop the port from disconnecting so that Miracle Box can communicate with the phone?

When I press power on button once the phone battery icon appears, I press power on again once and the phone boots normally...

Quote:"7. You should now see >> Waiting for USB Port at the bottom left corner. Connect the phone to the PC (must be switched off still with battery inside) then press the Power button just once (this is to ensure that your device is detected immediately). DO NOT hold down the power button else the phone will boot up normally"

I also tried connecting the phone powered off with battery removed after I press start in Miracle Box but the vcom port also keeps disconnecting.

I tested various volume and power combinations here is what I found:

Volume UP + Power On = menu with 3 options, recovery, fastboot and normal

Volume Down + Power On = factory mode with options, auto test, manual test, item test, test report, debug test, clear eMMC, version, reboot (MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COM18) stays connected in this mode but Miracle Box does not proceed with anything.

Maybe this phone is hardware locked to prevent flashing?

I have already installed the drivers manually as here https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-440.html

OMG YES I FINALLY GOT IT DETECTED. Here is what I did:

Start Miracle Box > MTK > Service > Read > 8th Boot (MT65xx & MT67xx/8127), Save as scatter file

Press Start Button

Phone off remove battery

Connect USB cable (without battery)

Insert battery

Miracle Box detects the device

But when I tried the second time it's not detecting so I think I have to get the timing perfect when I press start button and connect the device.

Okay my phone is difficult to stay detected in preloader mode without disconnecting after 3 seconds.

I had to keep pressing start button and removing and inserting the battery several times with USB cable connected before it was detected again.

I'm getting this error, I selected to backup everything and it stops at:

Reading userdata...
>>SUM ERR:7A800000 156780000 100000

EDIT: I will make a fullback except this userdata partition, I don't need it I just want a stock ROM backup.

Okay I give up for now, ticked all in the backup except userdata but now I get this error

Reading system...
>>SUM ERR:A800000 60000000 FF000

EDIT: I installed the latest preloader driver and it read all fine.

What's my next step to create a custom recovery now that I have a full backup?
