This guide will teach you how to use GSM Aladdin Box to backup / dump a Mediatek (MTK) Android phone's firmware in both scatter and .bin format. Its important to backup so you have something to unbrick with.

Requirements


Steps to backup a Mediatek Android phone's firmware using GSM Aladdin Box


Follow the steps below to use GSM Aladdin to backup a Mediatek device's firmware

  1. Extract the content of the GSM Aladdin zip and double-click GSM Aladdin 1.34.exe

  2. Click the Mediatek tab

  3. Tick ReadFlash

  4. Set Model option to Auto Detect and USB

  5. If you wish to dump the firmware in scatter format, tick Save as Scatter file. For whole .bin format, leave this option unticked

  6. Click Connect

  7. Click Start

  8. You should now see >>> Scanning Mobile USB Port... . At this point, switch off the phone then connect it to the PC via USB cord (with or without the battery in it)

  9. GSM Aladdin should now detect the phone

  10. If you ticked the Scatter file option, a box should popup. In this box, tick the partitions you wish to backup / Dump

  11. Click OK when you're done

  12. Select the location you wish to save the backup to then click OK

  13. GSM Aladdin should begin backing up the selected partitions. Do Not interrupt this process

  14. If you didn't tick the scatter file option, a window will popup. Select the location you wish to save the whole .bin backup to then click Save

  15. GSM Aladdin should commence backup. Do Not interrupt this process

  16. Once backup is done, you should get a success message

Important Notice
  • GSM Aladdin ideally requires a hardware box to work. Running the module without one won't work
  • If you decide to use a loader version (no hardware needed) then your antivirus might flag it. Its entirely up to you to heed or ignore
  • For best compatibility, flash your backup using GSM Aladdin box
  • Avoid interrupting the backup process as doing so could cause the device to go dead
  • Secure Boot devices will require a DA file

If you backup with the scatter file option, does that mean that you can use Sp flash tool to flash the dumbed/backup firmware on an another phone?

Yes u can but u need to change the name from "example" recovery.bin to recovery.img and that should go to the other file as well and then u can flash it using Sp flash tool

Please i have a problem. Whenever i plug the usb to the phone, it always charges instead of the ALADDIN to detect the phone, even if i remove the battery,ALADDIN will not detect it and if i put the batterry, it will start charging.
