[Tutorial] How to fix MTP error on a Windows PC

If you suddenly notice that your Windows PC no longer detects your Android phone's USB storage then it just might be due to an MTP error. If such is the case, you'll find the device detected as unknown or with a yellow warning triangle. To fix this:

Steps to fix MTP Error


  1. Leave the affected device connected to the PC via USB cord

  2. Launch Device Manager and locate the faulty MTP item (in the example below, its Phantom6)

  3. Right-click the device and select Update Driver Software

  4. Click Browser my computer for driver software

  5. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer then click Next

  6. Select Portable Devices from the list then click Next

  7. Select MTP USB Device then click Next

  8. Wait while the driver gets re-installed

  9. Return to device Manager, the yellow triangle should now be gone. Check under My Computer, the device should now be detected

Nope this method isn't working for me
So now I am using UMS enabler app to transfer file from/to my device to/from my PC

I have been trying to fix this problem for hours but it has now been resolved. Thanks ever so much folks. Big Grin
