In this guide on the importance of your device's Build Number, we explained why you should take your Build Number seriously. If your device is bricked, you need to know your Build Number to get the right firmware. This guide assumes you've not flashed the device since it got bricked because flashing overwrites your original device info.

Stock Recovery Mode

Boot the phone into recovery mode. On some devices, you'll find the Build Number written at the top of the Stock Recovery
E.g Infinix X506

Extracting Recovery.img

Dump the device's firmware in scatter format using Miracle Box or Wwr MTK. Rename recovery.bin to recovery.img and unpack using this guide

Open the Ramdisk folder. For Android 7 (Nougat) and below, the open default.prop file while for android 8.0 (Oreo) and above open the prop.default file using Notepad++ then check "ro.build.display.id"
E.g Tecno I3

Extract System.img

Dump the device's firmware in scatter format using Miracle Box or Wwr MTK . Rename system.bin to system.img and unpack using this guide
Open Build.prop using Notepad++ and check ro.build.display
E.g Infinix Hot 2

Pull build.prop from /system via ADB

Setup ADB on the PC . In ADB, run

Code:

adb devices
adb pull /system/build.prop

Check ro.build.display
E.g Infinix Hot 2

Read info with a box/dongle e.g Miracle Box

  • Download miracle box
  • Extract the contents of the zip file and launch the miracle loader
  • When the miracle box dashboard opens, click on the MTK tab then click on ReadInfo
  • Select your chip-set type from the drop-down (leave it at 4th auto if you don't know the chipset)
  • Click on the Start Button then connect your device while its powered off
  • Miracle box should display a lot of info > including ID: xxxxx
  • That's the build number of your device
    E.g Tecno Y4

Mother Board

Loosen the phone down to the motherboard. You might find a part of the Build Number inscribed
E.g Infinix Note 2 X600

Factory Mode

Boot the phone into factory mode. In factory mode, scroll down to "version" and then use the power button to select it.
You should find the build number under SW ver.
E.g Gionee M5 mini

Important Notice
  • The assumption in this guide is that you've not made changes to the original device info by overwriting with a different firmware
  • If you have successfully flashed any firmware then this guide is useless for you. It's down to trial and error with any firmware (for your model) you can get
  • Not every method will work in your case due to differences in the level of bricking, device model and existing setup on the devices you use.

look around the motherboard of your device. there's no specific area where it will be indicated on the board.
also not all phone's will indicate this on the board either that's why there is more than one method

Hi,
I have downloaded and install the adb folder and run it. I typed the adb devices command, but it displayed nothing.

i have tried both the manual method and the direct installation method.

Is there other method to get my phone build number?

this thread isn't for chipset, use the app in the guide at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13054.html
online specs might be true or false, best to get the info directly from your phone.
