If you encounter this error while trying to see a movie on your TV over a USB connection then the problem is from the Audio Codec of the movie file. You would notice that the video will play file but audio will be muted. To fix this, you only need change the movie's audio output codec.

Requirements


Steps to fix audio format not supported on a TV using Avidemux


  1. Follow the steps below too use Avidemux to fix audio format not supported

  2. Launch Avidemux

  3. Click File at the top and select Open

  4. Navigate to the location of the movie file, highlight it and click Open

  5. Wait while the file gets loaded

  6. Leave Video Decoder and Video Output as they are

  7. Under Audio output, select AAC (lav)

  8. Under Output Format, select the same file format as the original file (i.e AVI if the original file is .avi)

  9. Click File at the top and select Save

  10. Navigate to the location you wish to change the output file and click Save

  11. Wait while the audio codec gets converted and the new file generated

  12. You can adjust the priority as you deem fit

What about a situation whereby when we try to play a video via USB connection and we get an error message that says, video format no supported.

How can we fix that?

You need to find out (from the TV's spec) what kind of format it plays then convert

I followed all of the steps but my video went from widescreen to full screen. How to I prevent that from happening?

Be sure you didn't change video aspect settings in the TV
Then also check step 6 in the guide and make sure you didn't change any video settings before converting
