Partitioning your external SD card could help with expanding the internal storage using apps like Link2SD and Apps2SD. This will explain how to do this using MiniTool Partition Wizard

How to partition an external SD card using MiniTool Partition Wizard
Launch MiniTool Partition Wizard and select Launch Application
The MiniTool dashboard should now be open
Highlight the SD card by clicking on it
Click Move/Resize Partition
The Move/Resize Partition wizard should popup
Set the amount of space you wish to reserve for apps. To do this, drag the small arrow in a circle (the one at the right) to the left in order to assign Unallocated Space After (you could also manually enter the value). Click OK once done.
The newly created partition should appear as Unallocated
Highlight the newly created partition by clicking it
Click Create Partition
Click Yes to proceed
Set Create As to Primary
Set File System to Ext4 (some ROMs require Ext2 or something else)
Give the Partition Label a name then click OK
You should now have some Pending Operations at the bottom left
Click Apply (top left)
Click Yes to apply changes
Wait while the operation is executed
Once done, you should get a success message, click OK
