I was able to finally get the start address and length size for the read back process. However, when I connect my phone to sp flash tool, it doesn't detect it and I have installed vcom drivers as suggested by one of your videos here. I keep getting a USB connection failed notification on my laptop. I even went as far as to use a friend's laptop after installing the necessary drivers, the same issue came up and I tried a different cable but same issue. Any other way to backup my stock rom since flash tool and miracle box isn't working

Sp flash tool / miracle box might not be able to write to your chipset (maybe latest versions will), that's why the rooting technique uses fastboot

Will the method used in flashing custom recovery on Gionee M6 mirror (ie fastboot method) apply to Gionee A1?

M6 mirror is way different from gionee A1. Don't try the same recovery on your A1. Let's just wait and see if the admins can help. As for me, I gave up since I barely get responses from them

As I told you, the same recovery should work for both variants but you're to cautious to try it (which I understand). Unless you get the SP Flash tool readback right then there's little that can be done in your case
