[Tutorial] How to flash Windows & Android to run concurrently on an Intel based Dual OS tablet

(This post was last modified: 07-07-2017, 06:51 PM by hovatek. )

While re-flashing the firmware (either Android or Windows OS) to your Intel-based dual OS tablet (Windows + Android), you might find that one OS gets corrupted in the process, meaning your tablet which could dual boot to either Windows or Android mode is now stuck with just one functional OS. This guide will explain how to get both Windows and Android working on the tablet.

  • Both Windows & Android firmware for the tablet
  • A Windows PC

How to flash a Dual OS Tablet (Windows + Android)

  1. Install Intel USB drivers on the PC (for the tablet) (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18178.html )
  2. Flash the Android OS using Manufacturing Flash Tool @ https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18204.html
  3. Setup the tablet in Android (follow the Setup Wizard) to boot to Home Screen
  4. Power off the tablet then boot into recovery mode (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18191.html )
  5. Do a Factory Reset in recovery mode then reboot the tablet
  6. Create a bootable Windows USB (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18218.html ) then connect it to the tablet's USB port
  7. Boot the tablet into BIOS (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18312.html )
  8. In BIOS, select SCU > Advanced > Default OS Selection , set to Windows (press F10 to save)
  9. Reboot into BIOS and select Boot Manager
  10. Install Windows OS to the tablet via Boot Manager (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-18220.html )
  11. Once done, boot into both Android and Windows mode to be sure both are OK (see https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-14482.html )
