[Development] How to unlock the Bootloader of an Android phone via Fastboot
#11

(09-07-2018, 09:42 PM)belinda1093 Wrote:  Great post, I am a newbie and it took me two days to get this far. I use both linux and windows and first a lot of problems with the adb fastboot drivers...and all the familiar problems. Then after much hassle I found out that my bootloader is already unlocked and I thought it wasn't. Big Grin Big Grin
Now my biggest issue is that I cannot find a suitable custom ROM for my phone (strange device I have, a Mango C9 android marshmallow, kernel 3.10.65 (!) with quad core chipset). So I should learn how to port a Rom, but I am in a hurry because I started this whole process because my phone has a virus in android system file. So I have to completely wipe it clean. I cant find a stock rom either. What would your advice be?

I've done this before, but when I type 'Fastboot OEM unlock', my device asks to press the volume up button for yes, and the volume down to not. when I press the volume up button then nothing happens, as if the volume up button doesn't work. But the volume down works well. how to handle it?

No. If I press the volume down button, the process will display several options, such as rebooting device, recovery mode and fastboot mode. but strangely, when this process the two volume buttons don't work at all

Is OEM unlocking enabled under USB Debugging?
Why are you trying to unlock bootloader exactly?
What is your device's chipset?

Does this method work on the LG G7 G710EAW (Asian/HK) version?
OEM unlock is enabled in developer options.

But the phone's service menu says bootloader unlock "Doesnot support device"
And LG's forum submission on their website says this model is not supported.

*edit*
The commands fail.

C:\Android\tools\bin>fastboot oem unlock
...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.001s

C:\Android\tools\bin>fastboot oem unlock-go
...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.001s

As stated, this method doesn't work on all devices
