how exactly did you attempt to remove root?
did you by any chance make a firmware backup before rooting?
and did you take note of the build number of your device?

And I can reboot into twrp recovery now and also found a way to off the phone. But it's still stuck at the "infinix powered by Android" but it won't boot.

Try flashing supersu in recovery, let's know if you can boot to home screen.

I flashed the superuser zip into it again and the phone is on as fit as a fiddle. I was trying to replace superuser root with magisk so as to install xposed installer.
Can expose installer work with superuser root? Or how do i go about it on x572?

Write down the phone's build no, you'll need if something goes wrong again.
You can install xposed framework with your custom recovery using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16021.html

You could try https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16021.html but first backup your current firmware using Wwr @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21970.html
