(27-05-2018, 07:11 PM)ccrqc357 MTK 6580 and Android 7.0

The phone is a Oukitel C5

Confirm if your phone has a valid baseband.
If it does then try other methods
BTW, I don't think you need to hold any button provided you've installed VCOM drivers

Im getting EnterApMode[]:Metal Result default fail
The phone gets into meta mode (boot logo) but wont com handshake

Is your device rooted?
have you tried GSM Aladdin method?

(07-06-2018, 10:28 AM)Yohanan Piadoso Bro no need for further step you just need to try all tweaks the 1 that work is all the best
just check weather yours base is ok in setting about

if is ok root the phone and use chameleon apk App
work for me 100%
all thanks goes to hovetek

I have a random IMEI when I flash the rom via SP Flash Tool
The chameleon app gives me null imei and trying to insert it Engineer Mode wont fix a thing.
I had the same problem before and I solved it with Sn tool but I remember I had to press a button combination it order to start com handshake.
The phone is a Oukitel C5 ruining 7.0 with MTK6580

The drivers seem to be working ,
Ive flash the ROM via SPFlash Tool with those drivers .
The IMEI  now has is a random number ,
Ive used SN Tool before and I remember facing the same problem until I tried different key combination in order to start com handshake.
Ive tried everything now nothing works.
The MAUI tool wont connect either and  the Charmaleon app give me a null IMEI,
With engineer mode method the IMEI stays the same.
I have to mention that I had updated previusly to a new ROM version that required Clean install via SP Flash Tool,
Now Ive recovered to the old version but the preloader was messed up so Ive used cleared all method (in SP FLASH TOOL)
and reflash the old firmware incuding the preloader ,
Now Ive stuck with no signal due to this problem

Maui Meta and Tool Hero @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-116.html often work best with Nougat.
1. Have you tried using a different PC (not Windows 7 64 bit)
2. MTK phones rarely need button combos to work but since you say that's what worked at one time, lets know what button combos you've tried so far
