I was faced with this issue of my Tecno camon CXAir  bricking after flashing the stock ROMs provided on this forum or elsewhere on the interwebs.I'm pretty sure there are several complaints on the same out there, so it took me sometime to figure out what actually caused the problem, I mean isn't it weird a stock ROM bricking a phone?
I found out that as of my case, the phone got bricked or rather the preloader that you just flashed isn't working so the phone cant boot as a result of flashing a phone that had a higher build with a stock ROM of a lower build and choosing "firmware upgrade" in SPFT. I had to wait until a firmware of a higher build or when i could access the same working phone and gladly i got it today and together with the preloader and scatter file (V139) available on this thread https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19292.html I was able to flash a working preloader and finally flashing a readback firmware from a working phone.
Here's the a detailed tutorial how to revive a dead CXAir(Usually detected as MTK USB port" and cant flash anything.
1.Download the scatter.txt and preloader.bin (V139) from the link aboveand flash the preloader with SP Flash Tool
2.Download this firmware (V139) I read back with Miracle Box here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1sG_F2m...mw9uhExVXz
3.Flash this firmware using Miracle box and check "Format All (Android)"
4.You can now power on your device and its advisable to boot into recovery and perform a factory reset before the first boot.

If it shows as mtk usb port in spft, how did it flash the preloader?
What i want to know is, in MTK USB PORT mode, how did sptf flash the phone.

Have you tried?
If you flash the v139 preloader the mode will change to Mediatek DA USB VCOM and flash the preloader

Could you list the steps involved when flashing the preloader alone?
Because spft doesn't detect the phone in MTK USB PORT mode

What version of SPFT are you using?

Also what was the cause of "death" of your phone?
Was it as a result of flashing stock ROM

what peter said here is quite correct
at times flashing a dead phone, SPft will detect the phone as "mtk usb port" then once preloader has been flashed then it changes to *** vcom ***
it all comes down to how did the phone you're trying to flash go dead

try holding the vol down, up or both vol key before connecting the phone to pc, it would help the pc detect the phone. If still the pc isn't detecting the phone then try uninstall all vcom drivers with USBDeview @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-7660.html and reinstall again using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-440.html.
