I've really been interested in rooting my Tecno K7 device but whenever I research, I'm mostly met by ported TWRP.img for V98(Tecno spark K7 variant V98) and wondered whether my, which is variant 180 can also be ported. How can I be helped. My device fingerprint ID is TECNO/H8019/TECNO-K7:7.0/NRD90M/K7-H8019A-N-180124V180. Google Framework ID is 304144C7DCFFADBF.

Backup your phones's firmware using miracle @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-13347.html then use your recovery to port TWRP using the tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html

Once you obtain the boot.img for your build then you can root using Magisk @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html

From the website that hosts Magisk, they write that flashing Magisk changes boot.img to magisk.img. Don't you think this can brick or bootloop my phone? I'm just sceptic about this.

And is there a way that I can just use TWRP recovery just once. I once bricked my phone and realized that the Android's basic recovery interface was really important, that's why I still have doubt to fully loosing it to TWRP.

Another question, do unlocking my phone's bootloader disable verified boot?

If you're more comfortable with TWRP then that's no problem. You first need to get recovery.img for your build number by backing up the firmware

This would depend on your device's bootloader. You could try it and give feedback

Backing up my device firmware isn't a problem, I can do that easily. There was a time I was doing rooting experiment in my phone and I accept I ended up screwing up and I eventually wiped my OS. Since SP flash tool couldn't flash the system.img, despite having the correct firmware, I ended up consulting Carlcare(manufacturer's licensed customer care support).

Since then, I've been hesitant about flashing the firmware partitions of my phone. That's why I was asking if any modification to boot.img would not bootloop my phone.

Now, most users have complained of bootloop upon flashing of the patched boot.img. How sure is Hovatek that there'll be no bootloop upon flashing of the boot partition?

To be frank, nobody can give you a 100% guaranty. There's a very high probability that it works but there are always risks. Even the TWRP approach has its risks; That's rooting for you.
Both the TWRP & Magisk approach have been tested but its left to you to decide whether or not you wish to take the risk and try rooting

With the guidance you gave me, I was able root my Tecno Spark K7 variant 180. I'm really grateful to topjohnwu for the powerful Magisk development. My phone is now systemless-ly rooted. Thanks Hovatek.

Hi, I needed a little help.
After rooting my phone with the Magisk, my phone couldn't pass safetynet. Ctsprofile result's false and so is the CTS security integrity.
Now, I'm using a phone with an unlocked bootloader.
Could this be the problem?
Or, how can I fix this?
I have tried flashing the safetynet fix versions 12, 13 and 14 to no vain.
Please help.
