My Gionee GN5001S fail to be rooted
(21-10-2018, 04:00 AM)abbey2u I'm sorry for that. I'm frustrated. I have tried hard to get it done but to no avail. I followed the steps on your video but when I downloaded magisk and to patch the boot img then the app crashed. Everytime it crashes. I have downloaded several versions of magisk, if I install it it will say the version is lower to the system version. And it won't install. And the one that installed crashes all the time. It says "unfortunately, contacts has stopped". I cleared data in the settings, and cleared cache yet its still not working.

The guide at https://www.hovatek.com/blog/your-androi...asy-steps/ is what you need.
What you need is a custom recovery. You don't necessarily need to root.
Have you backed up your phone's firmware?
(22-10-2018, 10:39 AM)abbey2u Thank you sir. I have not backed up the firmware of my phone.
