I flashed again the complete stock rom and then TWRP. In TWRP I ignored the password request (by cancelling) and could nevertheless install Magisk-v18.1.zip. I installed the magisk app and now everything seems to work fine.

This was a long way to go. Anyway, thank you all for your support.

this is precisely the point that i am stuck at.

i followed the here described steps:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot oem key <my key>
- fastboot oem unlock
- Download stock rom "Nokia-1 -FRT-039G-0-00WW-B02.nb0"
- Download the "OST" flash tool, patch UnlineUpdateTool.exe, delete config file
- Open OST and flash the nb0 file
- fastboot flash recovery TWRP-3.2.3-TwrpBuilder-2018-08-21_14.img
- fastboot reboot
- place magisk.zip in the file structure of the phone
- adb reboot recovery
- entering TWRP, cancelling password
- Wipe > format data > yes (since the internal storage was locked)

at this point, i cant make any progress. i managed to wipe the memory and get access to my internal storage, but i never found the magisk.zip in my structure to install it. i see it on my computer and in android file manager apps, but not in TWRP.

funny thing is, the phone folders i see on my computer are nowhere to be found in TWRP. so even if the zip file is there, i couldnt even find it.

i know that on my computer i only see a select few folders of the phone memory, because others are protected. but i can not even find any of those folders that windows shows me, in TWRP.

proof of unlocked file system: https://imgur.com/a/mHOM6rY

what am i missing here?

i hope anybody can help me, because i feel i am very close. just the last step is where i am failing.

I didn't wipe or format or flash anything because then Android wouldn't boot any more.
But I had copied magisk.zip onto an externa sim card and plugged this into the phone. Maybe this was the trick.

i have finally (after two f***ing days) managed to install magisk and activate root access. but that was one hell of a way to get there. if that phone breaks tomorrow, i wont get the same again.

i had tried the external sd card method before, but for some reason it was not readable, like the internal memory. that is why i didnt pursue this avenue any further.

what i did now to succeed:
- format an external micro sd in windows with exFat
- put magisk.zip on it
- put micro sd in phone
- boot into TWRP
- mount the sd card in TWRP (took some trying and failing here to. while in TWRP, i physically removed the sd-card a couple of times, only after the third or fourth time, it was recognized and could be mounted)
- then i was able to select the zip and install magisk. when i did this the first time, the device rebooted and i got into the initial launch assistent of android (select a language, etc). dont know what happened there, but i went through the process of initiating the device and went back to TWRP again.
- installed magisk.zip again, and this time, after rebooting, "Root Checker" told me that root was successfully installed. hooray

thanx for the help to all, especially @hartmut. im getting a drink now.

(15-02-2019, 10:27 PM)hartmut ok, I tried to create a backup. The tool Wwr_MTK didn't run. I tried versions 2.3 and 2.4 and both crashed a few seconds after the program window appeared.
I tried SPFlashTool with the Readback feature, and again got the error "CHIP TYPE NOT match!! target efuse value: 0x94010000". What does this error mean for a Readback?
I tried Miracle Box 2.58, MTK->Service->Read, "8th Boot(MT65xx & MT67xx/8127)". The output panel shows:
 Connected to Phone.
 CPU: MT6735 SW:000 Ver: CA00
 Downloading Boot8...
 100%
Then Miracle Box crashes.

I give up for the moment. Next week I am pretty much offline. I'll continue afterwards, hoping that the battery holds...

Boot into TWRP and Backup .
Next flash magisk or supersu (systemless) then reboot.
Let me know how that goes

To unlock bootloader is fastboot flashing unlock

but first you need a oem key to create with your serial number https://passwordsgenerator.net/md5-hash-generator/

than copy the generated code & call it on a note oem key
than you do the following commands to unlock your bootloader ,once booted in fastboot mode

fastboot devices
fastboot oem key = the generated code from your serial number
fastboot flashing unlock

than your phone screen will pop up the question to unlock y/n

happy times ahead to y'all
