setting start address as 0x0000000000000000 didn't work. Is there a way in which one can do RAM test in console mode?

that leaves 3 options
trying other SPft versions
try dumping each partition separately rather than a single dump
using GUI instead of console

ram test in console mode?
No, there's no documentation about this either

Hello,

I am able to extract the phone in chunks of 1gb, up to around 80% (14gib) of the disk length (roughly 16gib). For the remaining data I changed the readback length from 1gib to around 500mb and also 200mb but 0mb of data is being extracted.

See below for sample readback list

<readback-list>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="0" readback-enable="true" start-address="0x0" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_1</readback-rom-item>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="1" readback-enable="true" start-address="0x40000000" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_2</readback-rom-item>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="2" readback-enable="true" start-address="0x80000000" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_3</readback-rom-item>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="3" readback-enable="true" start-address="0xc0000000" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_4</readback-rom-item>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="4" readback-enable="true" start-address="0x100000000" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_5</readback-rom-item>
       <readback-rom-item readback-index="5" readback-enable="true" start-address="0x140000000" readback-length="0x40000000" readback-partion="EMMC_USER">F:\ROM_6</readback-rom-item>

     </readback-list>

Could you be knowing why that is the case?

Hello,
...
/quote]

16GB memory size usually isnt 16GB, it's approx. 12 - 15GB
e.g 0x3A3E00000 (which is approx 14.5GB but its a very common full length for most phones having 16GB)
lets say you have the above as full emmc length, doing the maths will result to
0x3A3E00000 - (0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000 + 0x40000000)

= 0x23E00000 (this is the leftover, which isn't upto 1GB)

whats the full size of emmc_user in your phone? you can get this from either ram test or pgpt, whichever one works for your device
when you've gotten full emmc_user size then you can calc for left over

Is there any other way in which one can get the disk length?

without root access? no, not that i know of any
with root access? download emmc brickbug check app from playstore
select 'check memory' and watch close, it'll show the total size in KB as a toast notification

change the value to bytes (KB * 1024) then convert to hex

Indeed using the hex value 0x3A3E00000 as the disk length, I was able to do the ROM dump in chunks of 1gb and the remainder 0x23E00000.
Out of curiosity, how does SP Flash tool perform RAM test? and is there something such as "common disk lengths" for the MTK chipsets which can act as "universal lengths" ?

And is it possible to gain temporary root to have su priviledges then afterwards revert to the initial state?

RAM test usually requires a scatter file and preloader, so not sure where or how sp flash tool retrieves disk length. that question best be refer to the company in charge of creating SPft ie Mediatek

temp root is out of the scope of this thread, you can patch boot and root using magisk then uninstall by flashing back stock boot.img

Thank you for the feedback.

After obtaining ROM_0, how does WWR process it to a preloader.bin file? Is there a different way in which the preloader file can be obtained from ROM_0?
