Having the screen wraparound to both
sides of the handset also could help users navigate
around applications a lot easier. But no one
expected to see the Korean OEM release such a
handset so soon.
According to a published report on Friday, Samsung
will be releasing a Galaxy model that will employ
the wraparound screen, sometime in the second
half of next year. The report cited two insiders who
are familiar with Samsung's plans. The screen will
wraparound both the left and right side of the
handset and will use an updated version of the
YOUM technology used by the Korean manufacturer
to produce the curved screen on its recently
released Samsung Galaxy Round.
According to the sources, the wraparound screen
might end up in the next Samsung Galaxy S
handset or Galaxy Note phablet or could be part of a
new line altogether.
