My laptop zap data like elephant sip water. Within 20 minutes, 500mb finishes. Please, how can I control it that it will not be consuming my data like that again?

you can try disabling BITS service
task manager - service tab - open service - BITS (Background intelligence transfer service)
change startup type - Disabled

disable Windows update service
command prompt (admin) - type
sc config wuauserv start=disabled

setwifi as metered connection
