I tried clicking on "ROOT" but get the message
" ATTENTION! Requests for confirmation on the device screen are possible!
ERROR: SU inacessible "

I guess I go back to the SP tools route then

For backing up the entire ROM, in the SP tools, I'm picking the hex addresses from start address 0x000000.... to the FAT address as the length. However, there is another address after FAT, called " bmtpool " . Is stopping at the FAT address alright or should I included this last item bmtpool ?

After setting the hex values, I tried doing the read-back, via the sp tools, with the phone in recovery mode. Nothing happened; the progress bar didn't move from 0%

I tried it with the phone switched off, but the pc didn't recognize the device to begin with.

Is there a work-around for getting these mtk drivers ?

you first need to install vcom drivers using https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-440.html
the phone is supposed to be switched off with battery inside when connecting to PC. see the video at the guide

I had already installed the vcom drivers. I thought they are different from the mtk drivers obtained via Pdanet ?

so.. ROM backup has been completed and the files have been processed in mtk-droid-tools. I made two sets of backups; one of 0x00 to FAT, and another of 0x00 to bmtpool.

Please explain the next step..

While processing the ROM in mtk-droid-tools, after clicking on "To make CWM recovery automatically", I get an error "ATTENTION! Recovery doesn't suit this phone! "

kindly advise
