TWRP stands for TeamWin Recovery Project. It's an open source software custom recovery for rooted Android devices. It's used for installing third party firmware and backing up phone system. It also supports the installation of custom ROMs, kernels, add-on e.g. Gapps and other mods.

If it works on only rooted devices, then is there a way or an option i can use it without my device being rooted?
Thanks...

you can use a custom recovery without if your device doesn't have dm_verity
port twrp using the latest version @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21839.html ; you'll get a notification of dm_verity status at the end of porting

yes, you can use TWRP to backup and restore the OS but if you've flashed twrp then it means recovery won't be stock and you can't use twrp to perform an update

Good day Sir,
I have realized that when you root your device, it give you a super user feature .e.g. is that you get the chance to uninstall built in app and if that is write then i have one star :-) . So my point is that, I have this device here that I want to root and later flash TWRP. SM-G920X S6. Thanks.
