This tutorial will explain how to write IMEI to Mediatek (MTK) devices using Modem Meta (Maui Meta v10) tool. One of the advantages of this tool over Maui Meta v9 is that it can load DB file(s) directly from the device. It also has an option to manually load the DB file in case loading from the device fails.
Requirements
- Ensure you have a valid Baseband. If unknown, flash the stock rom
- Download Mediatek CDC Serial driver and install as explained @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srOYe6TWo60
- Download and install Modem Meta tool
How to use Modem Meta tool
Follow the steps below to use Modem Meta tool to write IMEI to Mediatek devices.
See the video below or @ https://youtu.be/SdcP0gQQs-A
- Lauch Modem Meta
- Under Platform, select Smart Phone
- Under COM Port, select USB COM
- Click Connect
- Power off the device and connect to PC via USB cord (with battery inserted and not holding any button)
- Wait for the device to get detected
- The device should pass all connection stages if you'd correctly installed drivers and connected correctly
- You should see 'Connected' in green at the bottom left corner
- Click Load DB at the top left
- In the Load DB Flow prompt, click From Target. If this fails then choose From File but you'll need the DB file for your model
- Wait while the tool gets and processes the DB
- Once successful, you should see DB is successfully loaded
- Click the Search tools bar at the top right
- Scroll and select IMEI Download
- The IMEI Download prompt should come up
- Enter the first 14 digits of the IMEI you wish to write; the tool will automatically append the 15th.
- Click Write
- If done, you should see Write IMEI to target successfully
- Click the close icon
- Click Disconnect
- You should now see Disconnected in red text at the bottom left corner. Hold the power button on your device till it reboots.
Important Notice
- This guide only explains how to write IMEI (fix null / invalid IMEI) not change IMEI. You are entirely responsible for what IMEI you write
- If the load DB From Target function fails then manually load the DB using the From File function
- Modem Meta was developed by Mediatek Inc so credits to them

Quote:In this video tutorial, I'll be explaining
how to write IMEI to a Mediatek Android device
using Modem Meta tool.
Some people also know this as Maui Meta version
10.
In order to use this tool, you need to have
installed your Mediatek CDC serial drivers.
I'll link to that in the description below.
You also need to have downloaded and installed
modem meta, I'll also link to that.
Once you have these in place, you launch modem
meta.
Now, under platform type, you select Smart
Phone and under COM Port, you select USB COM,
then you click Connect.
Now you power off the device, still with battery
in it, do not hold any button then you connect
it to the PC via USB cable.
If you've installed the drivers correctly
then the phone should pass all connection
stages at this right hand corner.
Now, if all were passed, you should have Connected
in green at the bottom left corner.
Next you click Load DB.
One difference between Modem Meta and Maui
Meta v9 is that this version allows you to
extract the DB file directly from the device
which is much more convenient.
You click on From target.
If this fails then you can click on From file
but you're going to need to have the DB file
for your specific phone model, which can be
obtained from the firmware for that model.
I'm going to re-run this.
If you get this error then you could re-run
it.
Alright, I had to disconnect, reboot the device
and retry.
If you get that error, just do what I did
and if you keep getting the failed error then
you'll have to load the DB file manually.
Next up (once you have DB is successfully
loaded), you come under the Search Tools and
you select IMEI Download.
Now, you input the first 14 digits of the
IMEIs you wish to write.
For IMEI 1; that is SIM 1, I enter the first
14 digits.
IMEI 2; first 14 digits.
The tool will automatically append the 15th.
digit then you click on Write.
If successful, you should have Write IMEI
to target successfully then you can disconnect
and hold the Power button till the device
boots up.
That's how to write IMEI to a Mediatek Android
device using Modem Meta.
