[Tutorial] How to disable dm-verity or Android Verified Boot (AVB) - Why?

This is probably a stupid question, but I have no idea why someone would want to disable dm-verity or Android Verified Boot (AVB).

There are many examples on how to root a devices (S20+) but they never mention AVB.

Is it necessary before/during/after flashing stock/custom F/W and/or TWRP.

Is AVB related to the actual stock/custom firmware if you want to modify the firmware and to be able to use it by bypassing AVB?

Is AVB got something to do with KNOX? Does disabling AVB prevent tripping knox when flashing with stock/custom F/W and/or custom recovery like TWRP?

TWRP doesn't appear to be available for the S20+. When may it be available? Has anyone ported current verion it to S20+, G986B to be specific?

Would appreciate a reply thank you.

basically to be able to flash custom images without bricking the device

probably the author didn't need to mention this as it's nothing new now and seeing as magisk disables avb while patching the input file (which could be boot alone or boot, recovery and vbmeta all depending on the device)

it's necessary before flashing any custom image

not sure what you mean by this but avb is either implemented in (boot for devices without vbmeta partition) or (vbmeta partition for devices with vbmeta partition)

AVB is totally different from knox and disabling avb won't save you from tripping knox (nothing will prevent knox from tripping unless you refrain from unlocking bootloader and flashing any custom images)
